Policy on Use of Food Service Facilities and Food Service by Outside Groups

The Long Prairie-Grey Eagle School District in an effort to be in compliance with state law and food safety standards while making our facilities reasonably accessible establishes the following guidelines.

1. Generally, the District will not allow the use of the school kitchen facilities (defined as areas used in either building for the school breakfast and lunch program) for any purpose other than the school breakfast/lunch program.

The Superintendent has the authority to allow use of the school kitchen facilities on a very limited basis; however, any school or non-school group that is allowed to use the school kitchen facilities must employ the services of a school employee who holds a food service license from the State of Minnesota. The cost of these services shall be the responsibility of the group requesting the use of the facilities and calculated as the actual costs to the school district. This does not include any rental fees charged by the district. The Superintendent has limited authority to waive these fees.

2. Any school or non-school group that requests to use the Food Occupations room must have a special events license from the State of Minnesota. The license must be on file with the Community Education Office and the person holding the license must be present during the event.

3. Any school or non-school group that requests to serve any type of cooked food in a concession stand, for team meals, or any other type of event must have a special events license from the State of Minnesota.  This Special Events license can be obtained through Todd County Public Health.  The license must be on file with the Community Education Office and the person holding the license must be present during the event.
