Summary
Children need nutritious meals to learn. To that end, the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle School district serves nutritious meals every school day. All meals
served
meet nutritional standards established by the U. S. Department of Agriculture. If a child has been determined by a physician to have a disability and the disability prevents the child from eating the regular meal, we will make modifications or substitutions prescribed by the physician at no additional charge. All schools use a computerized school lunch accounting system. The system allows parents to deposit money into a family lunch account for their child(ren). Each student is issued a four-digit identification number that s/he will enter into a keypad when coming through the lunch line. The cost of the meal will automatically be deducted from the balance in each family's account. This system has eliminated the need for lunch tickets and requires meals to be paid for in advance. Students can deposit money into their accounts by bringing money to the school office they attend. Checks should be written to ISD #2753. You may also pay through our online store. Meal costs are listed below:
Costs
Breakfast Free for all students
Preschool-Grade 6 $2.65
Grades 7 - 12 $2.75
Visiting Student $3.65
Adults $4.20
Adult Breakfast $3.30
Milk $0.35
FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH PROGRAM
Children may qualify for free and reduced-priced meals. Reduced prices are $0.40 for lunch and $0.00 for breakfast. The August School District Newsletter has the application forms to apply for free or reduced-price school meals. Additional applications can be picked up in each building office.
A LA CARTE
In addition to the lunch line, students in 7th through 12th grade have an ala carte line available to them every day. The 6th grade may use the ala carte line on the last Wednesday of each month in which school is in session. No cash is accepted in the ala carte line and all purchases are made by PIN number. Students who are eligible for free or reduced meals must pay full price for items from a la carte. Any student with more than $1.00 negative balance in their family lunch account cannot purchase items in this line. The a la carte line can be used as a supplement to a meal on the main lunch line or a student can put together a full meal.
